Dan Hoekstra is a science teacher at Grand Rapids Christian High School, where he has taught since 2008. (He began teaching in 2002). Dan often teaches chemistry, AP Biology, and biology and he also helps to coach cross country and track. In addition, he serves as a technology coach to help teachers integrate meaningful technology into their lesson plans. Dan majored in biology and chemistry at Calvin College. He then earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette University and has nearly completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology (MAET) from Michigan State University. When he is not teaching, prepping, studying, or coaching Dan likes to catch up on family time with his wife and 3 kids. He also likes to run long distances without his computer or cell phone. Nate Vanderzee is a social studies teacher at Grand Rapids Christian High School, where he has taught since 2008. He graduated from Calvin College in 2004, where he majored in history and Spanish. Nate began his teaching career in 2005, teaching Spanish, but these days he usually teaches global issues, government, and U.S. history. He also serves as a technology coach and enjoys supporting his fellow teachers as they integrate technology in meaningful ways. Nate recently completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Grand Valley State University. In his spare time, Nate enjoys hanging out with his family (wife and 3 kids) and playing video games and role-playing games. He also enjoys video production and tinkering around on the computer.
